The presentation of the book Il mito infranto (Codice Edizioni) will delve into the authentic meaning of the word "sustainability", also examining the contradictions of so-called green progress. In his essay, journalist and writer Antonio Galdo exposes the limitations and distortions of a development model that promised to save the planet but has instead fueled new inequalities and global imbalances.
Through analysis of crucial areas such as food, electric mobility, cities, climate, and artificial intelligence, the author shows how new forms of privilege accessible only to a few often hide behind the sustainability label. In his essay, Galdo calls for recovering the authentic meaning of sustainability, which cannot exist without a real reduction in inequalities and without public policies that overcome the logic of techno-finance.
Is sustainability as we understand it truly the right path forward, or has it transformed into a myth that has betrayed its promises?
The author will be joined by Professor Carlo Giupponi and Il Gazzettino editor Roberto Papetti for a joint discussion. During the event, actress Ottavia Sanfilippo will read out selected passages from the book.
